# Polygon grants in 2026: what replaced Community Grants

> Polygon grants as of October 2026: Community Grants ended after Season 2 in April 2025, investments replaced them, and where Polygon builders can apply now.

Last reviewed 2026-10-31. Dates are UTC.

Polygon grants are not open in 2026. The Polygon Community Grants Program's last open season ran from January 14 to April 15, 2025. From Season 3 the Community Treasury switched from grants to investment funds, and as of October 2026 polygon.technology/grants redirects to the Hadron Founders Club site. On Polygon itself, the Polymarket Builders Program is the open grant in our directory.

## Key takeaways

- Polygon Community Grants paid builders in POL from the Polygon Community Treasury, set up in June 2024 to release about 100 million POL a year for ten years.
- Season 2, the last open grants season, ran from January 14 to April 15, 2025 with a budget of up to 35 million POL.
- Season 3 (August to December 2025) replaced grants with investment funds, and on January 9, 2026 the Community Treasury Board became advisory, with the Polygon Foundation setting strategy.
- Listings that show a "2026 General Grants Track" with an August 31, 2026 deadline appear to recycle Season 1 dates. No Polygon source supports them.
- The Polymarket Builders Program, run by Polymarket on Polygon, offers grants from a pool of more than $2.5M plus weekly USDC rewards.

## Does Polygon still offer grants?

No. As of October 1, 2026, when we last checked, Polygon had no open grant round and no grant application page. Three signs confirm it:

- polygon.technology/grants redirects to the Hadron Founders Club site.
- The Questbook grants portal Polygon used, polygon.questbook.xyz, no longer resolves.
- The Season 2 announcement on Polygon's blog now returns a 404.

The Community Treasury moved from grants to investments in Season 3. Our research ledger marks Polygon Community Grants as discontinued, one of 123 programs we checked in October 2026 that are not in our directory.

## How did Polygon Community Grants work?

The Polygon Community Grants Program paid builders in POL from the Polygon Community Treasury. Polygon set up the treasury in June 2024 to release about 100 million POL a year for ten years, and each grants season had its own budget.

### Season 1

Season 1 ran from June to August 2024 and published a range of 5,000 to 50,000+ MATIC per project. It promised a four-week turnaround.

### Season 2

Season 2 ran from January 14 to April 15, 2025, with up to 35 million POL. It had two tracks:

- **Direct Track**, reviewed by the Community Treasury Board. It took open requests for consumer apps, cross-chain tools and infrastructure. Requests under 200,000 POL could get accelerated review, and grants were paid in tranches against agreed milestones.
- **Grant Allocator Track**, run by outside teams such as Thrive, Gitcoin, Giveth, Crossmint and Eliza Labs.

Season 2's themes were AI agents, DePIN and memecoins. It published no per-grant range, and it said any change in the POL price after approval was borne by the applicant. That rule is worth remembering for any grant paid in tokens; our guide to [grants paid in tokens](https://www.web3grant.com/guides/grants-paid-in-tokens) explains why.

## What replaced Polygon Community Grants?

Investment funds replaced grants. From Season 3, which ran from August to December 2025, the Community Treasury moved its money into investment funds for liquidity, infrastructure and founder support.

On January 9, 2026 the Community Treasury Board was moved to an advisory role, and control passed to the Polygon Foundation and Polygon Labs, with the Foundation setting strategy. No new grant season or application page has been announced since.

Season 3 included a Founder Support fund with a 15M POL budget, and polygon.technology/grants now points to the Hadron Founders Club. Neither is an open grant program with a public application process that we could verify. If you want to understand how an investment-led fund differs from a grant, read our guide to the [crypto ecosystem fund](https://www.web3grant.com/guides/ecosystem-funds-vs-grants) model. You can read the last grants season's rules in the [Season 2 strategy post](https://forum.polygon.technology/t/community-grants-program-season-2-strategy/20502) on Polygon's forum.

## Watch out for outdated Polygon grant listings

Some third-party sites claim Polygon runs a "2026 General Grants Track" with a deadline of August 31, 2026. These listings appear to recycle Season 1 dates, and no Polygon source supports them.

Old pages that quote MATIC amounts, link to a Questbook portal or describe a General Grants Track are describing a program that no longer runs. Before you spend time on a Polygon application, check that the page lives on a Polygon domain and still loads. Our guide to [Web3 grants GitHub lists](https://www.web3grant.com/guides/web3-grants-github-lists) covers why many grant lists online are years out of date.

## Where can Polygon builders apply now?

The open options are app-level programs on Polygon and multichain programs that fund work whatever chain it runs on:

- [Polymarket Builders Program](https://www.web3grant.com/grants/polymarket-builders-program): Polymarket. Grant size: Not published. Always open: no deadline, applications reviewed as they arrive.
- [The Graph Grants Program](https://www.web3grant.com/grants/the-graph-grants): The Graph Foundation. Grant size: $1K–$325K (USD equivalent). Always open: no deadline, applications reviewed as they arrive.
- [Tether Grants and Bounties](https://www.web3grant.com/grants/tether-developer-grants): Tether. Grant size: $1.5K–$5K (USD equivalent). Always open: no deadline, applications reviewed as they arrive.

### Polymarket Builders Program

The Polymarket Builders Program funds developers who build apps, tools and experiments on top of Polymarket, the prediction market on Polygon. Polymarket says grants go to the best teams based on product innovation and traction, from a pool of more than $2.5M.

You join by building. You create a builder profile, attach your Builder Code to the orders your app sends, and your volume is attributed to you. Verified builders appear on a public leaderboard, the most active earn weekly USDC rewards based on volume, and builders can charge their own fees on order flow.

Polymarket's Request for Builders lists ideas it wants to see, such as pro trading terminals, analytics and portfolio tools, AI decision tools, and lending and vaults built on prediction market positions. Two rules matter: you must tell Polymarket before any token launch or lose your builder badge, and projects that shill tokens are not welcome. Polymarket publishes no grant sizes or review time.

### Multichain programs

The Graph Grants Program pays GRT for Subgraph and Indexer tooling, data services and community work, from $1,000 up to $325,000 based on past awards. Tether Grants and Bounties pay $1,500 to $5,000 in USDT or bitcoin for tasks on Tether's open stack, such as its Wallet Development Kit. Neither is tied to Polygon, so a Polygon app qualifies only if the work fits each program's own focus.

## FAQ

### What was the Polygon Community Grants Program?

The Polygon Community Grants Program paid builders in POL from the Polygon Community Treasury, which was set up in June 2024. It ran in seasons, each with a budget, a Direct Track reviewed by the Community Treasury Board and a Grant Allocator Track run by outside teams. Its last open season, Season 2, closed on April 15, 2025.

### Is there a Polygon Community Grants Season 4?

No Polygon Community Grants Season 4 has been announced. Season 3, from August to December 2025, replaced grants with investment funds, and in January 2026 control of the treasury passed to the Polygon Foundation and Polygon Labs. As of October 1, 2026, no new grant season or application page had been announced, and the old grants URL redirected elsewhere.

### How much did Polygon Community Grants pay?

Polygon Community Grants Season 1, in mid-2024, published a range of 5,000 to 50,000+ MATIC per project. Season 2, in early 2025, had a total budget of up to 35 million POL but published no per-grant range; it only said requests under 200,000 POL could get accelerated review. Neither season published amounts in US dollars.

### Is the Polymarket Builders Program run by Polygon?

No. The Polymarket Builders Program is run by Polymarket, the prediction market built on Polygon, not by the Polygon Foundation or the Community Treasury. It funds apps, trading tools and experiments that route orders to Polymarket, with grants from a pool of more than $2.5M and weekly USDC rewards for the most active builders.

### Does Polygon still use Questbook for grants?

No. The Questbook portal that Polygon Community Grants used, polygon.questbook.xyz, no longer resolves, and the polygon.technology/grants page redirects to the Hadron Founders Club site. Any Polygon grant application link that points to Questbook belongs to the old program, whose last open season closed on April 15, 2025.
