About Akash Community Pool
The Akash community pool is a permissionless funding source. Any person or team can ask for AKT for a project of any size, and the funds are released only if AKT stakers approve the request in an on-chain governance vote. Akash's grants page lists it next to smaller paid community contributions and direct grants from Overclock Labs, which have no public application.
You first post a draft on the Governance Proposals board in Akash's GitHub discussions, with a TL;DR, timeline, amount and a cost breakdown in hours and hourly rate. After community feedback you submit it on-chain with a 1,000 AKT deposit, and voting runs for 7 days. Funded teams report on spending in the community repo.
Outside teams funded this way include Chakra (13,279 AKT for public-good indexing, analytics and an MCP integration, March 2025) and Blockworks Research (71,970 AKT for an Akash data dashboard, August 2025). Since then the pool has mostly paid for core engineering, events and incentive programs, and no outside request has passed a vote, so expect a careful review.
