About Ethereum Audit Subsidy Program
The Ethereum Foundation put $1M into a subsidy pool that pays part of the cost of a professional smart contract audit for teams building on Ethereum mainnet. It is part of the foundation's Trillion Dollar Security initiative and runs through Areta Market, an audit marketplace with more than 20 firms such as Zellic, Certora and Spearbit.
An expert committee with representatives from the Ethereum Foundation, Chainlink Labs and Nethermind Security reviews applications with Areta. Approved projects get up to 30% off their audit, and you still choose your own auditor and quote on the marketplace.
Any mainnet builder can apply regardless of size or stage, but teams aligned with the foundation's CROPS principles (censorship resistance, open source, privacy and security) get priority.
