About Spiral Grants
Spiral is Block's open-source group, founded in 2019 to give back to the Bitcoin community. Besides building projects such as LDK, it runs a grant program for independent developers, designers, product managers and researchers. Past grantees include the BDK Foundation, Payjoin's Dan Gould, BTC Map and the Bitcoin Design Foundation.
In July 2026 Spiral rebranded around open-source Bitcoin and AI after the core developers of goose, Block's open-source AI agent, joined it. Spiral says the goose grant program will become part of its broader grant program, so proposals for open-source AI work are now in scope alongside Bitcoin.
There is no form or deadline. You email a detailed proposal to grants@spiral.xyz. Spiral does not publish grant sizes, review criteria or timelines, but its updates show that many grants are renewed and that grantees join a Signal group of past and current grantees.
