Scroll grants: what happened to Community Grants

Updated 5 min readBy the web3grant editors

Scroll grants are no longer offered. Scroll's last grant round, the Community Grants Program pilot, closed on December 19, 2025, and a second edition discussed in early 2026 never launched. In September 2026 Scroll announced plans to become a private, application-specific network for its own AI products, and as of October 2026 there is no Scroll grant program to apply to.

Key takeaways

  • The Scroll Community Grants Program pilot took applications from September 22 to December 19, 2025, and funded work had to be finished by January 31, 2026.
  • It paid $200 to $10,000 in USDC on Scroll mainnet for events, meetups, hackathons and education, with at most 30% up front, from a 312,500 SCR budget.
  • A second edition was discussed in February and March 2026 but never launched, and most Scroll DAO contributor roles ended on April 30, 2026.
  • Scroll's older Level Up developer grants are gone as well: the Level Up grants page returns 404.
  • Community organizers can apply instead to open programs that fund events and education, such as The Graph Grants Program and Lido Ecosystem Grants.

Are Scroll grants still open?

No. When we checked on October 1, 2026, Scroll had no open grant program. Here is the sequence that led there:

DateWhat happened
Sep 22, 2025Community Grants Program pilot opens
Dec 19, 2025Pilot closes to applications
Jan 31, 2026Deadline for funded work to be finished
Feb to Mar 2026A second edition is discussed on the forum but never launched
Apr 30, 2026Most Scroll DAO contributor roles end
Sep 2026Scroll announces plans to become a private, application-specific network for its own AI products

We removed Scroll from web3grant's directory because there is no grant program and Scroll is moving away from being a public general-purpose chain. The program page on grants.scroll.io still shows the pilot, but its deadline has passed.

What the Scroll Community Grants Program paid

The Community Grants Program, sometimes searched as the Scroll community grants program, was a three-month pilot run by the Scroll DAO Community Council. It funded community activations that helped people explore Scroll's products, assets and programs. It did not fund software development.

ItemDetail
Grant size$200 to $10,000
Paid inUSDC on Scroll mainnet
Payment scheduleUp to 30% within 7 days of approval, the rest after milestones
Budget312,500 SCR (USD value not published)
ReviewCouncil evaluation within 7 days, final answer within 30 days

The pilot funded four kinds of activation:

  • Events with 100 or more attendees.
  • Community meetups exploring Scroll.
  • Hackathons built on Scroll technology.
  • Flex proposals, such as education programs and scholarships.

Applicants needed proven community management experience, a milestone budget with clear KPIs and a plan to point their audience to Scroll ecosystem products. Grantees ran the activation and filed a final report with metrics and evidence. Scroll has not published a list of grantees that we could find.

What about Scroll's developer grants and audit subsidy?

Scroll's earlier developer grants, the Level Up Starter and Launch tracks, are no longer listed, and the Level Up grants page returns 404. Third-party pages quote amounts for those tracks, but we could not confirm them on an official Scroll page, so we do not repeat them here.

The only builder support still shown on grants.scroll.io is the Security Subsidy Program, which subsidizes audits through Areta and Immunefi rather than paying cash. Its page still says "Apply Now" and describes a subsidy of up to 75% plus 25% provider discounts. However, the Scroll DAO's program coordination role ended on April 30, 2026, and it is unclear whether new applications are processed. Treat it as uncertain until Scroll confirms otherwise.

Where Scroll builders and organizers can apply instead

Community organizers and educators

The pilot funded events, meetups, hackathons and education. These open programs in web3grant's directory fund similar work, each for its own ecosystem:

ProgramCommunity work it fundsGrant size
The Graph Grants ProgramEducation, content, events, regional growth$1,000 to $325K in GRT
Lido Ecosystem GrantsContent, events and education on Ethereum and proof of stakeUnder $1K to over $100K
Analog Grant ProgramHackathons, events, community growthUp to $50K
Render Network GrantsCommunity events, educational resourcesNot published
Polkadot OpenGov TreasuryEducation, events, regional community programsSet by track, by on-chain vote

Each of these programs judges a proposal by what it does for its own ecosystem (Lido also accepts work for the broader Ethereum and proof-of-stake space). A meetup proposal written for Scroll needs a new audience goal and new KPIs before it fits elsewhere. For more programs of this kind, see Web3 education and community grants and our guide to Web3 content creator grants.

Developers who built on Scroll

For app teams, the nearest open programs are on other Ethereum L2s. Ink Spark grants pay 500 to 20,000 USDC for live products on Ink. Unichain Grants pay up to $7,500 to live DeFi projects on Unichain with $250,000 or more in TVL. For audits, the Ethereum Audit Subsidy Program covers up to 30% of an audit for teams launching on Ethereum mainnet.

Our guide to layer 2 grants compares every L2 program we track, and ZKsync grants covers a similar case of an L2 without an open builder program. Before you port a product for a grant, read how to apply for Web3 grants, which explains how to judge fit before you write.

FAQ

Is the Scroll Community Grants Program open in 2026?

No. The Scroll Community Grants Program was a three-month pilot that closed to applications on December 19, 2025. A second edition was discussed on the Scroll forum in February and March 2026 but never launched, and most Scroll DAO contributor roles ended on April 30, 2026. As of October 2026 Scroll runs no grant program.

How much did Scroll community grants pay?

Scroll community grants paid $200 to $10,000 per grant in USDC on Scroll mainnet. Grantees received up to 30% within 7 days of approval and the rest after submitting milestones. The pilot's total budget was 312,500 SCR, and Scroll did not publish its value in US dollars. The grants funded events, meetups, hackathons and education, not software.

Does Scroll still offer audit subsidies?

The Scroll Security Subsidy Program page still says "Apply Now" and describes audit subsidies of up to 75% through Areta and Immunefi. However, the Scroll DAO's program coordination role ended on April 30, 2026, and it is unclear whether new applications are being processed. Confirm with Scroll before you plan an audit around this subsidy.

What is happening to Scroll in 2026?

In September 2026 Scroll announced plans to turn Scroll into a private, application-specific network for its own AI products. Earlier in 2026, most Scroll DAO contributor roles ended on April 30, and the planned second edition of the Community Grants Program never launched. Scroll no longer runs any grant program for outside builders or organizers.

Where can Web3 community organizers get event funding instead of Scroll?

As of October 2026, community organizers can apply to The Graph Grants Program, Lido Ecosystem Grants, the Analog Grant Program and the Render Network Grants, all of which fund events or education for their own ecosystems. The Polkadot OpenGov Treasury also funds events and regional community programs through on-chain referendums. Each judges proposals by the benefit to its own ecosystem.
