Fast Web3 grants: programs that decide in 3 weeks

Updated 7 min readBy the web3grant editors

Fast Web3 grants are programs that usually reach a decision within 3 weeks of an application. As of October 31, 2026, 21 of the 99 programs in web3grant's directory fit, against a median of 4 weeks across all of them. Most of these times are web3grant estimates rather than published commitments, and the fastest programs tend to be small, rolling or run by a small committee.

Key takeaways

  • As of October 31, 2026, 21 of 99 programs in web3grant's directory typically decide in 3 weeks or less, and 2 of them, Ronin Proof of Distribution and Tezos Commons Small Grants, in about a week.
  • Only a handful publish their timing: Tezos Commons answers eligible applications in 3 to 5 days, Nosana's committee decides in about two weeks, and dYdX says its process takes about three weeks.
  • 13 of the 21 are always open, 6 are closed between rounds and 2 have an open round.
  • Fast is not the same as likely: Rocket Pool's monthly grants committee declined every application in Round 41.
  • The decision is not the payment. KYC, agreements and dispute windows can add weeks after approval.

Which Web3 grants decide in 3 weeks or less?

As of October 31, 2026, 21 programs in web3grant's directory typically decide in 3 weeks or less. The tables below group them by type and say where each time comes from: published by the program, set by its schedule, observed in past rounds, or estimated by web3grant.

Treat every figure as a rough guide. Only a few programs publish a review time; the rest are our estimates from each program's process description or past rounds.

Compound paused new proposals in its main Dapps and Ideas domain on April 14, 2026, and its other domains fund only exceptional teams. Rocket Pool's funds are tight: Round 41 declined every application. Zcash's estimate comes from 2026 applications that were approved 1 to 3 weeks after filing.

For round-based programs, the clock starts when the window closes, not when you submit. A fast decision in a quarterly program can still mean months between your idea and the money. Check the Web3 grant deadline calendar for the next windows, or set up email alerts for new rounds.

Audit subsidies and automatic rewards

ProgramTypical decisionWhere the time comes fromStatus
Ronin Proof of Distribution1 weekSeason review before payoutAlways open
Ava Labs Security Audit Program2 weeks10-day quote windowAlways open
Ethereum Audit Subsidy Program3 weeksEstimateAlways open

Ronin Proof of Distribution is not an application at all: registered games and apps earn a share of a monthly RON pool from their on-chain activity, and the team reviews each 30-day season for botting before paying. Ava Labs' figure is the window in which audit firms send quotes, not the subsidy approval itself. Smart contract audit subsidies explains both audit programs.

Why do some grant programs decide faster?

Some grant programs decide faster because they have less to check, fewer people to convince, or a fixed task to judge. Five patterns show up in the list above.

  1. Small amounts. Five of the 21 cap grants at $10,000 or less. A small request needs less diligence; BNB Chain's grants page says the reverse, that larger amounts take longer to evaluate.
  2. One reviewer or a small committee. dYdX has a Grants Lead screen applications and a committee review each approved grant within 48 hours. Compound's domains each have one allocator. Zcash's five-person committee votes every two weeks.
  3. Rolling review. Thirteen of the 21 are always open, so your application is read when it arrives instead of waiting for a batch.
  4. Defined tasks. Tether funds mostly posted tasks with a fixed payout, and Nym runs missions anyone can do without applying. Judging a deliverable against a spec is quicker than judging a proposal.
  5. Automatic scoring. Ronin pays from an on-chain Builder Score, so there is no proposal to review.

At the other end, 14 programs in the directory typically take 8 weeks or more. The OpenSats funds take about 13 weeks, and the Cardano Treasury, TRON Builders League and SDF Academic Research Grants about 12. Those programs are larger, review in batches or depend on votes, and slowness there is not a warning sign. Web3 grant statistics has the full distribution.

How can you speed up your own grant review?

You can't make a committee meet sooner, but you can remove the reasons it sends an application back. Most delays come from questions the application should have answered.

  1. Apply where you fit. Read the program's eligibility rules and recent grantees before you write. An off-topic application wastes the most time: dYdX screens those out within about a week, but some programs, such as Tether, may not tell you about a rejection at all.
  2. Answer a posted need. RFPs and tasks come pre-approved in scope. dYdX publishes RFPs, Compound's allocators publish domain RFPs, and Tether posts tasks with fixed payouts. See Web3 RFP grants.
  3. Talk to the program early. Compound tells applicants to contact the domain allocator early to agree on milestones, and Zcash invites early feedback in its forum's Grants category.
  4. Make the budget and milestones reviewable. Line-item costs, dated deliverables and a way to check each one. How to write a Web3 grant proposal shows what reviewers look for.
  5. Have identity documents ready. dYdX, Tether and Zcash (for grants above $50,000) all run KYC before payment.
  6. Reply fast. Follow-up questions are common, and a slow answer can push you into the next batch or meeting.
  7. Hit the cycle. Rocket Pool's monthly deadline is the 7th at 23:59 UTC; Zcash's committee meets every two weeks. Submitting just after a cutoff costs you a full cycle.

How long after approval do you get paid?

Approval starts the paperwork, and the payment schedule depends on the program. Several programs in the fast list publish the steps that follow a decision:

  • dYdX: you receive an approval email, sign the contributor agreement and complete KYC before work starts.
  • Zcash: you complete KYC and the grant agreement, then post forum updates before each milestone payment is released.
  • Rocket Pool: awards become official only after a two-week window in which anyone can dispute them.
  • Reactive: REACT is paid within five working days after each milestone is approved.
  • Nym: approved rewards are sent within about two weeks of each monthly or end-of-season update.

If you need money by a date, ask the program how long its KYC and first payment usually take. What happens after you get a Web3 grant covers agreements and payouts in detail.

FAQ

What is the fastest Web3 grant?

Tezos Commons Small Grants is the fastest application-based program in web3grant's directory: it says eligible applications are reviewed and answered within 3 to 5 days, but only for applicants in the US and Canada. Ronin Proof of Distribution has no application at all; registered projects are scored each 30-day season and paid after a one-week review.

Are fast Web3 grants always small?

Fast Web3 grants are not always small. Zcash Community Grants decides in about 3 weeks by our estimate and approved a $750,000 grant in August 2026, and the dYdX Grants Program, which says its process takes about three weeks, publishes no ceiling. Small programs are overrepresented among fast ones, though: five of the 21 cap grants at $10,000 or less.

Why has my Web3 grant application not been answered?

A Web3 grant application can go unanswered because the program reviews in batches, is short of funds, or has quietly stopped reviewing. Filecoin Open Grants, for example, has not replied to proposals filed since April 2026. Check the program's notice in web3grant's directory, wait for its stated review time, then send one short follow-up.

Do fast Web3 grants pay quickly too?

Fast Web3 grant decisions do not guarantee fast payment. After approval, most programs run KYC and sign an agreement, and milestone grants pay only part of the award up front. Rocket Pool adds a two-week dispute window, while Reactive pays within five working days of each approved milestone. Ask the program for its usual time to first payment.
